Ludo Strategy Guide: How to Win Against the AI
Ludo looks like pure luck — but experienced players know there's serious strategy involved. Here's how to beat the Gamezgrid AI.
Understand the Risk vs Reward of Moving Out Early
Every time you roll a 6, you have a choice: bring a new piece out or move an existing one. In early game, prioritise getting all 4 pieces onto the board — more pieces means more options on every turn.
Use Safe Squares Strategically
Star squares are your best friends. Whenever possible, land on a safe square after a long run. The AI will happily capture you if you leave a piece exposed on a regular square.
When to Chase vs When to Run
If your piece is far behind the AI's, focus on advancing your own pieces rather than chasing for a capture. But if an AI piece is one roll away from entering the home column, capturing it buys you significant time.
The Home Stretch Sprint
Once a piece enters the coloured home column it cannot be captured. Prioritise getting at least one piece home early — it creates a statistical lead.
Rolling a 6
Remember: a 6 gives you a bonus turn. Chain your 6s wisely — sometimes it's better to advance a piece deep into the board than to bring out a new one.
